From Boone I drove over to Waynesville to hang out with my mom for a few days. She loves to hike so on Monday we went on an epic hike to Shining Rock. It was about ten miles total. It was beautiful and lucky for you I took photos so you can enjoy the scenery without walking 10 miles!

When we finally got there I discovered that Shining Rock actually has a couple cool lines going up it. The rock is a polished white quartz which was pretty interesting to climb on. I put up a fun V2 I dubbed Waynesville. It was a lot harder than it looked at first but I guess any boulder is if you’re climbing without chalk, climbing shoes, or a pad!

On Tuesday we checked out a trail in the smokies near Gatlinburg. I saw some rad looking boulders there but they were either blank or chossy so no climbing was done. I did see a bear though so that was exciting! He was too fast for a picture unfortunately.

I’m back in Atlanta for a week before I finally head out west. Yosemite is the first major stop but I’ll probably hit up Colorado and Joes Valley since they are on the way. The plan is Yosemite for November and Hueco for December.
